Request for Evidence (RFE)
It is initiated by USCIS or other Govt agencies dealing with approval of an Immigration Petition or Visa stamping. When the original petition lacks enough documentation to make a favorable decision then more documents/evidences are requested.

Request for evidence is abbreviated or commonly called as RFE is initiated after the original application is submitted. The RFE request generally explains what is needed to fully evaluate the merits of an immigration petition. It does not mean that a denial is impending, it just means that more information is needed RFEs. If not all of the required initial evidence has been submitted or the officer determines that the totality of the evidence submitted does not meet the applicable standard of proof, the officer would issue an RFE unless he or she determines there is no possibility that additional evidence available to the individual might cure the deficiency.

It is important that RFE request should be submitted in a timely manner and all the evidences should be submitted together. Most of the time decision is made after the submission of the evidences in rare cases one can get another RFE. The most important factor in answering the RFE is providing the evidences asked for in the RFE. Late responses are not accepted and the application is denied.

If the RFE is not responded then application is abandoned. The immigration application remains in suspended status till the requested documents are submitted. RFEs. If not all of the required initial evidence has been submitted or the officer determines that the totality of the evidence submitted does not meet the applicable standard of proof, the officer should issue an RFE unless he or she determines there is no possibility that additional evidence available to the individual might cure the deficiency.
